Reviewing and planning for change
I can help you and your organisation understand the internal and external factors which are driving change, and help you develop strategies to take control of the change process.
No organisation is immune from change, whether from factors such as developing technology, Government legislation, or simply the departure of a long-standing member of staff. Intelligent organisations learn to analyse what is happening and develop plans to cope. But even the best need to set aside time to do this, and many struggle to find the time and find themselves reacting to a series of short-term problems.
I can help you step back and understand what is happening, presenting information in a framework which will help you develop your own strategies for responding to change. In partnership with an associate I can run participative days for those managing an organisation, to help build knowledge and ownership of solutions into a management group or team.
This sort of process can be particularly important at times when you realise that change has become essential and some form of restructuring is vital to the long-term future of your business.
Throughout my working career this style of work has been a key feature of the way I operate. For example:
- Understanding how changes in housing policy can affect the make-up of a community, and how this impacts on voluntary organisations which serve that community.
- Anticipating how a regeneration scheme might change a community and developing effective measures of success to monitor progress, instead of simply counting what can be counted.
- Expanding an area of work and anticipating how this will not only affect income and expenditure, but also impact on the use of facilities within a community building.
- Assessing how a new law will apply to a business sector and setting out what steps will be required to comply with the law.
